Le photographe norvégien Jarle Hvidsten a réalisé une série de portraits de l’artiste laponne Marjá Mortensson.

La chanteuse Sami appartient au peuple de Sami du sud et est vêtue d’une reconstitution des habits traditionnels de Daniel Mortensson, un militant qui s’est battu pour les droits des lapons au siècle dernier.

Durant une des séances, un oiseau s’est posé sur la main de Marjá, permettant au photographe d’immortaliser ce moment inattendu et magnifique, digne d’un conte de fée dans ces contrées qui s’y prêtent tant.

I have had the pleasure of spending time with the extremely talented Marjá Mortensson , and got the chance to see a part of her kingdom. Marjá is a part of the Southern Sami people and their reindeer heard is situated at the gates of Sápmi in the south. Some of the images are taken in a reconstruction of Daniel Mortensson’s gamme, a Sami activist who fought for Sami rights in the beginning of the last century, and some are taken on her famaly’s land. I have never experienced it before in my life. But a beautiful large bird came and sat on her hand. Out in the wild. What are the chances I stand there with a big Leica in my hand! 🙂
